Cajual Records: What was your inspiration behind your tracks (Gilles and Music, Music, Music)? You had mentioned something to me about the Percolator as a track that inspired you to do Music, Music, Music.
Bart B More: Yes, I was going through some sounds and all of a sudden I had a sound that reminded me of the percolator which I've always been a big fan of. I just had to do something with this sound, I kinda wanted to do something similar with it but with a Bart B More twist. With Gilles the idea popped in my head to sample a live instrument, put it in a sampler and just freak around with it.
What were your favorite releases on Cajual Records or Relief Records?
Ah man, there are so many. Ofcourse that underground remix of 'Brighter days', Laidback Luke remix of 'the stalker', a Mark Grant record with a saxophone which I can't remember the name of, Paul Johnson remix of Flash and I love all the Boo Williams EP's, too many to name.
How did this project come to life with your EP on Relief Records?
Just after I made Music, Music, Music you guys re-released 'Percolator' with new remixes so I just had to send you the track seeing it was kind of a homage to Percolator, I'm really happy you guys liked it!
You are such a creative and talented producer. What are some DJs/producers that you looked up to when you started producing and DJing?
I was (and still am) a big fan of out of the box producers like Basement Jaxx, Chemical Brothers but was also heavily influenced by the jacking house sound from the likes of Derrick Carter, Mark Farina and Dj Sneak. Besides that I was really into the french house sounds by guys like Alan Braxe, Cassius, Buffalo Bunch and off course Daft Punk. I hope you hear some of these influences in my music today.
If you could work with any vocalist in the world from hip hop, R&B, pop, rock, to country, who would be at the top of your list and why?
I'd love to work with vocalists who have a typical characteristic voice for example Roisin Murphy, Lupe Fiasco, Beth Ditto, Nelly Furtado, M.I.A. or Robyn. Vocalists who are able to make songs sound like no-one else can make them sound.
We here at Cajual Entertainment are such huge fans of yours and follow you pretty closely. What is next for Bart B More that all your fans can get excited about?
I hope to release a lot of the collaborations I did in the near future. I worked on music together with guys like Brodinski, Harvard Bass, Tommie Sunshine and Drop the lime, but also with really talented dutch guys like Dem Slackers, Rubix and the Flexican. I've also been working on new solo tracks and I'm going to be touring a lot again. This week I leave for the US for a 6 week tour including the Gilles EP release party in Chicago. Besides that I've been putting a lot of work in a live show for this years festival season. I'm really excited about this! It gives me the ability to remix my own music live on stage and I just saw some of the visuals to come with the show and it looks like it's going to be amazing!
